Lovely day trip to Valencia during Denia holiday - Tue 14th December 2010
We had a most enjoyable day out to Valencia Spain when I was on holiday recently in Costa Blanca. It took about an hour and a half to drive there and I wasn't sure I wanted to do that journey, there and back all in one day. I didn't want to leave our lovely holiday villa in Denia but was so glad my husband talked me into it. Most of the journey was on the motorway so no effort and we encountered a little traffic going into Valencia but nothing major. We had seen on the Villaspain website under “Area Info ”, (we had internet at the villa and hubby wanted to take the laptop!!!), a tapas restaurant they recommend so we tried that. But first we wanted to see a traditional spanish market, Villaspain recommended Mercado Central, and it sounded fascinating especially the building. I'm not a great lover of markets but this sounded different. The building is absolutely huge and so beautiful with lots of colours, ceramics and mosaics. I got neck ache by looking up so much. The stalls were many and varied. Really worth a visit. Then we made our way to the tapas restaurant A Fuego Lento which was only a few minutes walk and had the most amazing food. The spanish wine was gorgeous too and as it was hubby’s idea to go, he did the driving ….. so I had to finish off the bottle!!!! Yes, a very happy memory.
Thank you Villaspain
